Ph.D. in Speech-Communication in 1992 from the Pennsylvania State University. Areas of study include Media and Child Development and the Political Uses of Media.

Author of the Alcohol Literacy Challenge Curricula. Five volumes of NREPP Reviewed, alcohol prevention curriculum for parents and students in elementary, middle school, high school and college. Adopted by colleges, school districts and county prevention programs in 14 states.

Trainer for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Leadership to Keep Youth Alcohol Free initiative, working with Governor's spouses in 29 states. Dozens of teacher in-services including schools districts in 10 states and Safe & Drug Free Schools sponsored workshops in New Mexico. Faculty for Media Literacy Teacher Catalyst Institute 4 day training offered by the New Mexico Media Literacy Project in 1998 & 1999.  Highlights include:
